1 Years, NAME: Charlotte BREED MIX: Shepherd/Heeler/Lab GENDER: Female APPROX. AGE: 1 yr old SIZE: Large HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Charlotte was adopted from us as a puppy, however, the couple did not socialize Charlotte, so she arrived fearful of new people. She also was socialized around other dogs. She now loves other dogs and is very friendly if not ecstatic to find a playmate to run and investigate smells with her. Then she crashes and rests TEMPERAMENT & PERSONALITY: Charlotte has a big personality, she could be a watch dog for someone looking for protection and/or security. She bonds with people that care about her. DOG'S NEEDS: An adopter who has time and desire to train a big dog, burn off her energy, teach basics, get further socialization since Charlotte is learning to trust strangers. She arrived fearful of people but now loves the ones she knows. Clicker training would be terrific since she needs reward-base training. Charlotte needs a mature, responsible, friendly owner. BEST MATCH: She loves other dogs, so best fit a home with another medium or large playful dog with energy that likes to run or friends/family that has dogs so Charlotte has a frequent opportunity to interact playing with other dogs - an absolute must for her. An adopter with a large yard to run and to play catch with tennis socks. A home without children. She's best with a single woman or a couple that has active outdoor lifestyle. She'll be best placed with an adopter who hikes, runs, bikes, goes on road trips with their dog, ski-jouring, snow-shoeing, things like that. Charlotte needs a leader type owner, not a pushover. An owner to set rules, boundaries and stick with them. Charlotte learns fast, but needs a firm leader who is confident that they are the ones who own the house, running the show so to speak. Loving a dog is good, but too much affection sets a dog in the wrong direction. An adopter with property/acreage would also be a good match, as long as Charlotte learns boundaries and spends time in the house as well. She would do well too going to doggie daycare, so an adopter that can afford to take her sometimes to socialize and be around strangers in a structured environment. FAVORITE THINGS: Toys, chewies, running with dogs, and playing chase the tennis ball (that you throw :). She's a good retriever.
