TEMPERAMENT & PERSONALITY: Maggie would be best in a home with a dog larger than her, since she loves to play with young playful dogs. Also, someone that is not gone from the home for 8 hours a day, since Maggie craves having company around her. She is best in a home with no children since after nearly starving to death, she guards her food still. She has some prey drive so best not in a home with small dogs, rabbits or cats. Maggie would be good with someone that is a runner and or hiker, since she has the energy and stamina. She is also happy to lounge around the house on a comfy blanket. She has also been crate trained. An adopter with experience with dogs is best, since Maggie has a strong personality. She is outgoing, not wimpy and submissive. Maggie is adventurous and would love to go for car rides to new places with you. She doesn't have any formal basic training, but is very smart and listens well to people she realized are in charge. Hence, she needs an adopter that has confidence in training and handling a dog. Maggie is not very large, but she has a big attitude playing with her toys, throwing them in the air and catching them. She prefers someone throws them for her though! :)
Due to her prey drive instincts towards small animals, including little dogs and cats, she is not a good candidate for dogs parks or off leash areas. A jogger, leash walking, and adventures in cars and on leash would be someone suited for her. Maggie is super smart, shy at first of people she doesn't know, but once she knows you she is a loyal type of dog. She also loves playing with bigger dogs, but at first she likely would ignore them, until she met them and then they have a chance to become friends and play.
FAVORITE THINGS: Maggie really likes playing with dogs her size or larger. She would do well in a home with a dog that also loves playing and running together.
